An Ancient Fortress on the Island

Deep inside Siberia there is a lake, one of thousands others. And in the middle of this lake there is a small island. And on this island people have found an ancient fortress, which is dated more than 1500 years old. Excavations are needed in order to reveal all its view for visitors, but even now from the air its a nice site in different times of the year. First part of photos were made during short Siberian summer:

Space Capsule Crash

On the picture is a landing of the space ship “Soyuz TMA”. On the 21st of October, 2007, the landing capsule of  “Soyuz TMA-10″ changed the controlled mode to a ballistic one. In the capsule were the cosmonauts – the members of the 15th expedition of MKS – Russians Fedor Jurchikhin and Oleg Kotov (more than half a year on the orbit) and the first cosmonaut of Malaysia Muzafar Shukor (11 days on the orbit). The capsule landed in 70 km from the place of the planned landing, and the cosmonauts experienced overload up to 9 units.

The Oldest Hydro Plant On the Dnepr

The Dnepr Hydroplant is the fifth and the oldest in the series of hydro power plants on the Dnepr river. The plant is in the city of Zaporozhye. The building of the plant began in 1927 , the first aggregate was launched in 1932, and in 1939 the project capacity was achieved – 560 MW. In that time it was the biggest hydro plant in the USSR.

Moscow Street Tries Itself As a River For a While

That is how Malomoskovskaya street, which is situated near the very center of Moscow, looked like today. Huge water pipe made a decision to bring diversity to the neighbourhood. At 5 a.m., having cracked, it flooded several neighbouring streets with water and sand.

Accident site immediately gathered few dozens of service trucks, police cars and  local authority. “It is none of an everyday work to fix such pipes”,- indicated with excitement guys in overalls and hard hats. Apparently they remained too long without real work and were happy to have an opportunity to deal with such a case.

The only thing to be done was to turn off the valve at the point from where the water in this pipe (900 mm in diameter) came from. Meanwhile everybody were staying around and observing the majestic scene.
