World Largest Halloween Party Gathering set Guinness World Record

Saints fans set a new world record. 17,777 fans came to the Steelers game in costume, putting them in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest costumed crowd at a Halloween event.

Saints fans don't mess around. They know they're from one of the most haunted cities in the country, and they take their football and Halloween seriously. They don't clown around here.

Lots of women went the sexy route, and there were some who wanted to be spooky; spooky enough for the Steelers.

Some men dressed as the grim reaper taking a Steeler player prisoner.

Of course if you're at a Saints game and you're trying to break a world's record for the largest Halloween gathering, there's going to be a Saints theme with all this masking. The 'Lance Smores' were one of the finalists in a Halloween costume contest in Champions Square.

"Well, we love Lance Moore, and we just feel like an under estimated portion of the Saints team and this season he has really pulled it out for the Saints, so we just wanted to celebrate Lance," said Saints fan Katie Rigsby.


A creative trio came up with the 'Saints Franchise' costume. Think past (the Aint's), present and future and add in some Lombardi trophy hairdos that required a lot of hairspray.

"It took several and lots of bobby pins," said one of the women.

For Saints fans, wearing a costume to a game really isn't that unusual. It just happens to be Halloween.

Mack the Quack, a Super Saints fan has been dressing like a clown for years.

"Like the Whistle monsta once said I think there should be 10,000 people dressing up in New Orleans, because that's our spirit. We're having Mardi Gras every weekend. We belong. We enjoy and have fun here and everybody's got to learn that New Orleans is here to make the visitors enjoy themselves," he said.

And Saints fans and Steelers fans most certainly did. It was a hauntingly good Halloween at the Dome.

Also on Halloween, Super Saints fans released a 2011 calendar. It benefits the Fishermen Fund, to help people affected by BP's massive oil leak.
