Rupa Manjari, who played the lead actress in the widely acclaimed Tamil movie flick Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru (T4), is all set to make her debut in the Malayalam film industry i.e. Mollywood. She is shooting for director Lal’s film, “Tournament”, where she plays the role of an intrepid wildlife photographer. The movie also includes Fahad Fazil and neophyte Manish.
“I play the role of a wild life photographer who chances across 6 boys who are going to star in an IPL cricket tournament. Eventually, I become friends with all of them and even fall in love with one of them” she said. The shooting should be done by November 10th and the movie will be released by Christmas. The shooting commenced on the 2nd of October, and has been completed swiftly and efficiently. The film is majorly shot in Kochi, but the unit is now shooting at a place called Gundalpet next to Mysore.
Comparing her current film to her widely acclaimed role in T4, she said “In T4, I was a perfectionist who was particular about every single thing, however in this film, I am a wildlife photographer, carefree and blithe. There are several turns and twists in the movie, and it has a bit of everything – love, comedy and action. It is a movie meant for the youth. I count myself lucky, to have received such a big project right from the offing. It is my first film in Malayalam and I count myself lucky to be working with a director as big as Lal. He is a great director, is the script writer and a producer as well. The cinematography is being done by Venu, who is brilliant.”
Rupa Manjari is basically a Tamilian who doesn’t know Malayalam. The dialogues are written in English and she delivers them in Malayalam. The movie features comedian Salum Kumar and old hand Siddiq. The movie is set to be one of the biggest releases of the here and it is quite the baptism by fire for Rupa, whose debut itself will be closely watched. The entire industry is looking forward to the release.
