The Great Migrations

Get ready for an incredible seven-part global television event by National Geographic Channel! Called Great Migrations, the series will take us around the world as we follow the journeys of millions of animals. Shot from land and air, in trees and underwater, Great Migrations will tell us the powerful stories of sperm whales, monarch butterflies, wildebeest, red crab and much, much more.
Watch the four-minute trailer, below, after seeing some powerful shots they sent to us. Great Migrations premieres Sunday, November 7 at 8pm ET/7pm PT. Set your DVRs!

They’ll even take us behind-the-scenes to show us how the NatGeo crews took some painstaking shots, including swimming with sharks out of the cage; dangling off a 400-foot cliff to get never-before-captured footage of peregrine falcon nestlings; spending 14 hours a day for an entire month 150 feet off the ground in Borneo to film primates in the canopy; and almost getting trapped in the Arctic by ice and shifting currents while filming walrus.
The accompanying book to the series is packed full of these amazing photos.

(Quick piece of trivia: If the narrating voice sounds familiar, it’s none other than 30 Rock’s own Alec Baldwin.)
